Users should also recognise the limitations of the certificate itself. A Certificate of Compliance confirms conformity at the time of manufacture, but it cannot verify the current condition of equipment that has been subjected to years of operational use. Damage, wear, chemical exposure, ultraviolet degradation or fall arrest loading may all affect equipment performance regardless of the original certification.
